Keeping cherry shrimp without culling

I'm thinking of putting cherry shrimp in one of my tanks.

It's heavily planted, and trying to cull shrimp will be pretty much impossible without tearing up the plants.

Will they revert back to the drab bland color of wild shrimp? Can I avoid this by adding some bight red shrimp every couple of years?

No they should not revert. But adding fresh blood to a colony yearly is a good idea anyway. Then yes put a few dark ones in there.
