HI all,
I just joined and had a question. I set up a quarantine/hospital tank and it is now cycled. How do I keep it established beings most of the time it is Fishless?
Thanks, Retha

I believe You can add ammonia to it daily to keep the bb fed . Or if you have another filter you can use it in your display tank till needed for your qt

What sizes are QT and main tank?

And what types of filters do you have?

The QT is a 5 gallon and I have an established 75 community & 60 that is in the middle of cycling that will be strictly for angelfish.

Also, I forgot-the filters are Penguin bio wheel for the five, 2 Penguin 350s for the 75 and an Marineland Emperor 400 for the 60

Does the bio wheel biowheelfilter have a mechanical filter slot with floss?

They all have filter cartridges that have mechanical media with carbon in them. With the exception of the small filter for the 5, the others have room for extra media.

I would get a small media bag, fill it with some kind of bio media, and put it in one of the canister filters and tear down the QT tank. If there is enough room you could also just put the bio wheel in the canister filter.

When I needed it back up and running, remove the media bag and place it in the HOB behind the filter and it will be cycled.
