Katie13’s 20g Tiger Barb Tank

I just started a 20 gallon Tiger Barb tank. I hope to upgrade them in the near future, but for now it works. The tank is home to 9 Tiger Barbs, Anubias Nana, Moss balls, and Cabomba. I would love feedback on it! I’ll update this thread as I add more plants to it.

I like the way it looks. I can't wait to bring my outside 29 gsllon in and set up a species only Tiger Barb tank. What filter are you running on your 20? Is it a 20 tall?

Nice! Your Tigers would love more plants. Mine love beebopping through my plants and they provide a respite for anyone being chased. There will invariably be chasing!

I'm hoping to get to my LFS in a couple weeks to get more Cabomba. It's a better price there than where I got it today.

It's a 20H running an AquaCulture 20-40 filter (my old filter I was planning to use started leaking when I plugged it in, so it's just a cheap replacement. They've always worked perfect for me.

Thanks. I was thinking about adding a canister for the extra flow. I'm hoping to add 12 to my 29. Do you have any bottom dwellers with them or is it TB's only?

Mine is just the Tiger Barbs. They are very entertaining to watch!

Here’s my current plan. The green line is where the Cabomba would be along the back of the tank. It will look better when the current Cabomba grows taller too.

That will look very nice. Do you have any issues with the TB's nipping at the plants? My 29 is pretty well planted with Anacharis and Bacopa. and just a dual sponge filter running off a solar powered air pump currently. The plants look amazing outside under the sunlight but i'm sure they will lose their reddish pinkinh hue once I put them under an LED light. I'll add pics if your interested

The Tigers have done really well with the plants so far. I definitely want a bigger school though. I went back today to get more since I started out with 8, and they only had 1 standard left which I got. I would love to see pictures of your 29g!

Here ya go sorry not all in the right order but I forgot to mention I have 2 big pieces of MopanI wood and started with 4 pieces of frogbit n it has completely covered the top aside from where the sponge filter bubbles up.. it has a ton of ramshorn and a dozen guppies in it but once I move it in the guppies will be moved to one of my other many tanks ... enjoy!!

I would cut back on some of the frog bit to get more light in there, but it looks pretty good!

Thanks! Yes i'm absolutely going to do that once I bring it inside. I got a new 39 liter tote that is low profile that I plan on putting 90% of the frogbit into. The frogbit actually helped it out very well once it started covering the surface cause I was getting algae blooms from it getting a ton of sunlight which is why I now have about 6 pounds of frogbit

Wow! This tank looks pretty different now! The first bunch of Cabomba took off, so I bought 6 more for a different tank. Well, decided I didn’t like how it looked it that tank and moved it all to this one. Here it is now....

Hi! I've been looking into getting cabomba recently and have been getting mixed reviews about its hardiness. Just wondering, because yours look amazing, what light/substrate are you using? Any CO2?
