Kanaplex And The Snail

I've posted a few times about my betta who's been in pretty rough shape. I returned from a trip to find the medicine I had my parents dosing did not help and she is now starting to pinecone. I'm going to try starting Kanaplex (previously tried both General Cure then underdoses of Bettafix after that) and see that the instructions say to remove invertebrates... but I have no place to put the snail. I could bring it to the fish tank at work but I'd hate to spread whatever disease that's going on in the tank over there too.

I can get around to linking my previous threads regarding the issue when I'm off mobile but she's in a 5 gallon filtered tank with the temp kept about 80 degrees.

I had mixed reviews on snail safety when I used kanaplex. I decided to take them out just in case. I bought a Rubbermaid tub for $5 and added my extra filter, they were fine until the meds were done.

If I don't have an extra filter will a daily water change work? I don't have another heater either.

I used Kanaplex multiple times with snails and no problems. Who knows though for sure.

Hm, not sure. I know pest snails will live through anything but I don’t about these guys. Sorry.

No place near me even had Kanaplex in stock until about Thursday. A fish store employee recommended the salt I had been avoiding since I knew the controversy around it, but at this point I'll try anything. He also recommended repeating the General Cure dosing since I only did one course of it last time. If the medicine is in and she's doing alright by then I'll use the Kanaplex.

I definitely recommend taking out the snails if you use salt. Good luck.

It's with a heavy heart that I report my betta has passed away. When I went to check on her today to give her the medication she was already gone. The Klanaplex was completely out of stock until Friday afternoon, and when I went to finally pick it up another employee recommended ParaGuard for the symptoms. I don't know if it was the ParaGuard, the stress of having to do a 100% water change first, or it was simply just too late, but she's gone now. Amazingly the snail is still alive, but I'm worried about what to do with him. I'll make a new thread asking if it's safe to place him in a different tank.

Thank you everyone who tried to help.
