Juwel Bioflow canister cleaning and the Juwel primo lid

cantremember

I got two Juwel tanks, a primo and a rio.
I noticed an accumulation of filth in the bottom of the canister. The section with the media is easy enough to get to if you remove all the media it's an open container.
The other section, with the pump and heater I'm having trouble with. I can remove the heater and insert the vacuum, but it's just tight enough for the vacuum to go straight down vertically, there's not enough freedom of movement to get to underneath the pump, theres a water channel blocking the way that as far as I can see can't be removed. (this is the area on the bottom where the lower vents are on the canister) Anyone has any experience with it? Should I get a vac with a flexible tube instead?

Another thing that frustrates me about the primo specifically, the light is attached to the lid, so if you open it you A, get blinded and B have no more lighting in the tank for the maintenance part, how do other people deal with that? Or should I just DYI myself a mod for the lid?
