Just won a 40 gallon tank!

I just won a 40 gallon long tank. I am picking it up today and I can't wait. Well I was wondering what fish should I put in it. I want something big and aggressive like a pirahnna. I heard oscars need a 55 gallon tank so I can't put 1 of them in. Well can anyone tell me some oddball fish please

 

Congratulations! I would suggest you definitely research whatever you decide to put in that beautiful tank thoroughly. I would also check with your state laws on the pirahnas. There are many states (like mine) where they are illegal to own. If you are looking for out of the ordinary fish, many of the cichlids might be right up your alley. I have been looking at the geophagus varieties and find them quite cool. However, they get quite large, and may not be a good choice for your tank. I check aquabid quite a lot for ideas, and just start looking at the auctions with pictures to find out what the fish look like and then google the scientific name to learn about them. Also, with that size tank, you could try a species only tank, and have a large school of smaller fish which would be quite interesting, but they would probably not be aggressive. pirhanas are legal were whatsafish7 and I live since petstores sell them

 

hello and thanks everybody for the feedback. I just wanted to tell eveyone I am getting a red belly pirrahna for my 40 gallon law because it is legal in my tank I will get it this weekend

 

your not cycling the tank with a pirahana are you?

 

no I'm not cycling with a pirrahna because they are real messy but other than that what is the real problem

 

well if you are picking up the fish this weekend and you aren't cycling the tank with it where are you keeping the fish?

 

I know. I am not going to pick it up neccasarly I meant to look at it and check them out plus I added chemicals

 

cool... what chemicals? you don't need chemicals for a fishless cycle though I hear bio-spira works well.
