Just Had My First Exploding Heater Experience

Feeling like a dunce because I set my heaters plug in the outlet (did not fully plug it in) and as I poured in water to my quarantine tank heard a POP! I knew exactly what happened....immediately face palmed. Exactly what I needed when trying to make space for a sick fish

This was my first experience having a heater explode, luckily no fish were hurt...

Well, mine exploded and I fractured my arm trying to pull the plug out of the outlet the rest of the way...

This is literally why I use power bars that will short out and turn off if anything like this happens.

I believe they’re referring to normal power strips, correct me if I’m wrong. Most of them come with surge protectors in case of a power surge and power switches to easily shut everything down in case something were to go wrong. Also super useful for plugging all the tank stuff in!

Lol silly me. I love my powerstrips.

 

I had one heater on my desk and another in the tank, dureing water change I unplugged the one.... By mistake I plugged in the one on my desk. I was going to put the heater on my desk away and went to grab it..... RIP MY HAND. That hurt so much, I grabbed the entire heater and burned my hand. ( it was a small non glass 5 gallon heater)
