I have a question. He is active and eating completely normal. Do his fins look healthy? His names shredder.

What a lovely crowntail! Fins appear to be good since it doesn't look like its clamped. Where did you get them from?

My LFS. I never was much of a betta person but I really liked how rustic he was. He was sitting right by the cash register 3 weeks ago when I noticed him. Then I noticed he was still there every time I went in. So finally I cracked and bought him. He’s been with me about a week. I tried him in a community tank with rummy nose and baby kribs. He’s been doing great.

I'll be honest even for a crown tail he looks like he may have the beginning of fin rot, likely due to poor water quality. His color seems faded as well since there are darker scales poking out. It's not that he is super unhealthy but this happens a lot with stressed fish kept in poor conditions. The best thing you can do is keep is water super clean with LOTS of water changes and make sure his tank is properly cycled.

He looks ok to me, "nice Picture!", Extra clean water is ideal anyway so just keep it clean in the tank. Good luck!

I love crowntails!!! Mine male was Shredder too! He’s the second pic (pink). First is my daughter’s Spike (white)

Beautiful boy! Love his color!!!! I am sure that good clean water will take care of any issue. It's great that you adopted him!!!! :)

Crown tails are great! I really have enjoyed the ones I have, lots of interaction/engagement which to me means happy fish.

I agree about coloring,He looks sweet. you should see some changes over next 3- 7 days as he adjusts to his new life. Good luck with Shredder!
