give it time and keep ur parameters up -- it will open... different corals have different flow requirements.. if after a few days they don't open - wait for more time before u hurry and move. However, do watch it each day so that you can watch out for any problems.Sometimes excess flow can be problems and so do light requirements.

Posted a pic of them at the beggining there called reef sun its a 50/50 bulb half blue half regular light. They have only been in the tank a few days I hear they can take up to 2 weeks to open. There are a couple on each frag that open with the exception of one frag

Yep, just be patient. Might be that they need to acclimatise to the light.

The Blue legged hermit crabs - some say they bother Corals - not sure (don't see it in my case)

Also the red hermits I have kind of decide to just crawl up my polpys and just sit there once in a while. I need to sometime kick them off there.

Other than you can get these:

1) Trubo Snail ( 1 per 20 gallon)
2) Super Tongan nassarius snail
3) 10~12 of Astraea turbo snail..

you can also check this out:

Yeah it looks pretty good all my zoas looks nice and they all have small polyps growing on the frags only thing ive noticed is that all my other zoas open every day but only 3-4 polyps out of maybe 40 on my dragons eye frag ever open could it be to low in the tank its about 4 inches from the bottom. I picked up a condy anemone today might end up bringing it back after reading some stuff online should have checked more then just live aquaria before I bought it

Very nice! I would like a saltwater tank too someday. Are living reefs hard to take care of?

Are living reefs hard to take care of?
No, not really. If you plan and research, and understand what you're getting into. Proper equipment and maintenance, the reef is quite easy, almost easier than my planted Freshwater

  • #63
I thought you were doin a sump to get that equipment off the tank?

I hear ya. I got all my measurements marked on the wall I'm cutting into, waiting on payday to get some lumber, and order my bulkheads and drill bits. I'm excited!

I just need to buy the stuff to plumb it in some more live sand and live rock and I'm waiting on my ro/dI unit to come in should have it Wednesday

I'm going to just use the lfs water all the time and add nutrients for the corals. At least that's the plan anyway. Could change, who knows lol. Your tank is looking good. I'm jealous. I can't wait to just haven't sand/live rock and start the cycle!

Thanks its been a little bit of a headache with it only being a 20 gallon but once I add the sump I hope it helps my skimmer and heater are going in the sump, but its well worth the headache to me love looking at all my zoas ive had no luck at all with mushrooms they all shrivel up and die next ones I get I'm going to glue to a small piece of live rock. With the water you will need some kind of fresh water to top off your tank because water evaporates but salt does not so if you top off with salt water your salinity will go up I don't mind buying bottled water every time I need to top up but it will be nice to just go into my basement hook up mt ro/dI filter to my hose and have water

When you have a couple extra bucks get a couple more peppermint shrimp. Mine came out a lot more when he got friends. I love those guys, a lot of them you can get to crawl on your hands. Makes them a lot more tank friendly, just be careful when cleaning cause they Will jump on you.

Also how are your feather dusters doing? My tank is still only a few months old but I wanted some. Do you feed them?
