Just bought cleaning crew for 55 g rectangular FOWLR saltwater tank

    Hello Fish Lore! Today I just purchased 20 blue leg hermit crabs, 5 turbo snails, and 5 Nassarius snails. Do you think this is a good start for my 55 gallon tank? If not, what and how many of the citters should I add to my tank. :;thx

    Oooh, new critters :D

    20 hermits seems like a lot for a 55G. Be sure to have plenty of spare shells for them to move into. Hermits will kill another hermit for their shell if they can't find a suitable empty shell.

    How big are the turbos? Turbos can be bulldozers so be sure your rock work is secure.

    Nassa snails are primarily sand dwellers, and do better in more established setups. As your setup is new, I'd recommend dropping some meaty foods (mussels, squid, shrimp and the like) on the substrate and let them come up to eat.
