Just About To Give Up

I was just about to give up on my aquarium, nothing was going right, no matter what I did, whos instructions I followed my water numbers were all over the place and nothing was working. the only thing I had going for me was 6 very strong fish (1 male Betta & 5 Tetras). Yesterday when I looked in the tank it looked like the picture perfect tank, something you see with 3D HD, just amazing, did my water test and everything perfect pH 6.8, Ammonia 0 ppm, Nitrite 0 ppm, and Nitrate 10 ppm. that's about the best I can do for a Betta..... Right? all fish look very happy and active, color is stunning in all the fish. I think I finally turned the corner

Was your tank just having difficulties getting your parameters just right? Or were you having issues with cloudiness?

Ahh...I am currently having an issue with cloudy water. My levels are just fine Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 and Nitrate 5-10ppm...just cloudy water!! I've done 20-25% water changes...nothing. I was curious about what you did to make it all clear up and go away!

I've been changing 16gal from a 20gal tank twice a week for the past 2 weeks, I'm new to this so I can't say if that's what did it for me but it didn't seem to hurt the fish

Hmm...no clue. I finally broke down and said forget it! I'm doing 50% water change...I added carbon and filter floss to my HOB filter & Purigen media bag, too! We'll see how it goes. I'm trying to hold off on adding any water clarifier

I love your Betta picture, I'm thinking of splitting my 20gal tank in half to put another Betta in with the one I have and the 5 tetras

Thanks! It's not my own picture, but I found it online. I love Betta fish and wish they were more friendly with one another because I'd love to have a whole aquarium of them! I actually adopted the Betta I have now...he was a class pet and kept in a bowl. He lost a lot of his fins and they have finally started coming back. Don't know if they will all the way, but he is healing nicely. Have you ever added Almond leaves to your Betta tanks to add tannis to the water? I've heard it is more of natural habitat for them if you don't mind the tea-colored water.
