Jungle Val and Other Plant Conundrum

I planted my jungle Val March 21, and it was doing good there was some melt, but that was to be expected. However I'm puzzled, it has grown runners but it's not growing "up" the leaves just melt. Also maybe not related but my Amazon swords, (I have three, just love them) are growing new leaves but some of them have brown at the tips. I use flourish root tabs, flourish, Excel, and flourish trace. I haven't dosed the excel anywhere near what the bottle asks as I read that plants need time to adjust to it.

 

I thought I read that Val was sensitive to Excel?

 

Vals can be more sensitive to Excel but if you slowly acclimate them, they'll adjust. Start small like 1/4 of the recommended dosage for the first week and then increase the next week and so on. I have vals and they do just fine with the daily dosage of Excel.

 

What kind of lighting do you have? I have trouble keeping mine in check - some leaves are as long as 3 feet!

I will try this. Also looked at my light and it looks like it can have a 20W Max so maybe I'll look into that as well.

Mine thrive on root tabs. They are root feeders from what I read. I am new to jungel val though.

 

You got it! I put a root tab under mine too. They grow and spread like crazy.

I rely on fish waste, but I've been planning to get this once my current fertilizer runs out. It has micros and macros.

Check out greenleaf aquatics and bobs tropical plants. They both have macro/micro ferts. GLA is slightly cheaper product with slightly higher shipping.
