Jungle val and crypt melt

I'm currently using apI root tabs, flourish comprehensive and apI co2, but I keep getting melt with the crypts and vals...do you think my plants would grow better without apI co2 and just the other two.

the liquid carbon shouldn't melt the crypts. it can adversely affect the vals though. some people try to do a smaller dose and slowly increase in a way to acclimate the vals to the liquid carbon.

I don't have vals, but my crypts are doing well with just root tabs.

Glutaraldehyde aka 'liquid co2' supplements are hard on vals, and can be hard on crypts. I'd just stop dosing it and hope they bounce back.

I'm going to stop dosing the co2 for a while and see if they bounce back.....
Is flourish excel the same as the apI co2 booster?

Excel is a co2 to my understanding, don't know if it's exactly the same, but it's similar.

Yes apI and excel are both glutaraldehyde co2 supplements. They aren't actual co2, but they are broken down and used by plants as a carbon source similar to co2. However it is also a very strong chemical, it's used in the hospital field as a sterilizer for surgical equipment. So some plants are sensitive to it.

I use excel in my tank and I have jungle val without any issues. They might be melting due to not having enough light. I know before I got myT5HO light, my vals were also metling away, to the point that I only had on long leaf left.
After I got my new light, the leaves started growing back and the mother plant even sent off runners. I now have the original mother plant, and the runners. To this day I dose my tank with excel every other day with no damage to my vals.
