Judge my Female Crowntail(?) Betta Charlotte

HI all~

Here I am again, posting another thread. This will be the last for a while, hehe.

I have had charlotte for a couple of months now and I was looking at her yesterday and she is quite a pretty fish. I like the lines of her body and the way she spreads out her tail fin whenever she gets inquisitive about something. I took a few cellphone pics and a video and I'm hoping you guys could give me some feedback about her? Is she any kind of quality? Breeding or just pet quality? I'm 99% sure I'm never going to breed her, but she is just a lovely fish and I'd like to know more about her.

The concern I have with her is her small size and I'm also unsure of what type of betta she is. Also, unsure of exactly how old, but her color has been coming in in the last month. Any advice?

*Yes, I'm embarrassed of the substrate in the tank but it's only there until Jan. when I move.

*No the plants are not real.

*And no, she doesn't have Ich. She's always had those 2 spots and I was really concerned about it at first. I raised the water temp, medicated, but they didn't come off. Had my father come over since he used to breed bettas and he agreed they're just missing scales.

Without further ado, Charlotte:

Video:
I can also get a video of her flaring at my finger if you'd think it would be helpful for judging.

NEW video with black backdrop:

Anybody have anything else to add?
I appreciate all the compliments.

She appears to be an elephant ear, doesn't look like a halfmoon, but not positive without seeing her in full flare. I don't really know what breeders look for in a female. I'm sure they look at a lot of things that we would never think about.

I don't see the crowntail?? And the pictures aren't good enough to see if she is a combtail or similar

I think she's a HM Plakat....but I'm not 100% on that.

To be a HM her caudal fin (tail) has to spread like a fan a full 180 degrees when she is flaring. She is nowhere close to this in any of the photos, but I don't think she is flaring in any of the pictures, so it really can't be determined.

With a female it is hard to tell the difference between placket, veil tale, or delta without knowing the genetics

You should be able to tell tail type, even on a female, by counting the rays when she flares Of course she'd have to flare for that

Interesting, Not something I knew, but I just Googled it. I guess I never really cared about the genetics or type of the females I had, so I never researched it. They were all from Petco and I just picked them because they were pretty. Breeding isn't something I considered before.

Lol I look these things up for fun... k, that's so wrong.

clownxfishx, can you get a picture of Charlotte flaring her tail?? Her rays are fuzzy in the ones you posted :/

However, judging based on tail shape alone, assuming she's flaring(ish) in those photos, I'd guess she's a nice wide delta If she is, she has nice extension in her caudal fin. I do agree she's a dumbo ear as well. She's just so pretty!

Based upon what I read she can identified as a veil tail based on her fin shapes. That is assuming the information is accurate and I am applying it correctly.

Female veiltails have almost round tails ~ I really think she's a delta Her edges are straighter and I think she has between 2-4 rays. Great angles on her too

Thank you guys!

I would agree with you about being a delta except she has that very square analfin, like a Plakat. That's what really throws me off. The deltas have a little more downward pointing corner at the end where hers is just straight across and then ends.

ETA scratch that I think shes a delta now. the world may never know until I get a better camera.
