Jellyfish hard to keep?

There's a new trend on tiktok where people are keeping jellyfish as pets, so now I have a couple questions about jellyfish lol.
Does anyone here own jellyfish?
Is it hard to keep jellyfish? (Some people say it's hard, but others say it's easier than keeping fish)
I read that moon jelly fish need 6 gallons and jellyfish with longer tentacles in a 20 gallon, is that true?
Anything someone should know before getting a jellyfish?
What are your opinions on jellyfish pets being a "trend"?
I used to want to keep jellyfish, but they seemed way to expensive and I heard it's also really hard to take care of them. I'm planning on doing some more research on them later. I just wanted to hear peoples thoughts on this

I watched a episode of Tanked and they were doing a Jellyfish tank and they were having a terrible time getting the jellies not sucked up in the filter and the filter not blowing them away. I think they are super hard. It ended up being stunning because it was a wall and they had different colored lights in the bottom that changed. I wouldn't want them because of the chance of getting stung

I don’t have any knowledge about jellyfish unfortunately (I did see the jellyfish on tiktok too haha!)
I think that trends involving getting pets is sort of irresponsible because people might hop on it without enough thought, but if people put in the hard work and research and are serious about caring for them, it’s not bad at all!

jellyfish can place the owner in so much danger, to me it's a safety hazard.

I consider them like octopuses. Super cool, but their needs outweigh all but the most experienced in that field.

I completely forgot they sting lol
I'm not sure if this is what you're talking about, but I found a video of tanked where they made a jellyfish lava lamp tank. It looks so cool!

I definitely agree. I'm also 100% sure if jellyfish are actually a trend, but I saw 3 videos of people showing off their jellyfish and a lot of others saying they also have one. Hopefully all the people who said they had one know how to take care of them!

I haven't thought of jellyfish being a danger to the owner. I'm guessing there has to be some way to handle them safely. I also agree, they seem like really hard pets to take care of, but I heard that some companies that sell the jellyfish are saying they're really easy to take care of , which obviously doesn't seem true.

I think it might have been. I think it was in a casino bar in Vegas.

Have you even heard of JellyTank. It’s a brand that makes a cool looking jellyfish safe tank. I’ve considered them before.

I've never ate jellyfish. How does it taste like? Also how do you season/cook it? Lol I guess i'm going to be looking up jellyfish recipes. Also they are legal. I double checked

I've never heard of them, but I looked them up and they're sold out
I might again consider getting a jellyfish tank when I get my own place. Right now I only have room for one tank

No clue since I wasn't the one who prepared it haha. Hmm... Its hard to describe the taste, the texture is both soft and hard at the same time. Like the outside is more of a thick jelly but then the "core" is kinda tough and makes a weird sound when you chew it? I'm failing to describe it lol.

I personally like it. But I believe its controversial like almost all things are... Imagine if I were to post that in a youtube comment section...

I looked up some recipes and honestly it looks kind of good. The way you described it also made sense
I personally don't think it's controversial. I saw people eat much weirder things lol.

I’ll just look at them at an aquarium. Here’s a couple cool pictures I took at the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans.

There are tanks specifically made for jellyfish. Google them. They're pretty neat.

Not all jellyfish are dangerous. Moon jellies are safe, for example.

I'm still trying to figure out why people are discussing SW Jellyfish in a FW forum...

I'll fix that. Here's a FW Jellyfish. They are found in small lakes in Michigan certain times of the year, often late summer or early Autumn. He's about the size of the fingernail on my pinky finger.

I watch the tv show the Aquarium. they showed their jellies. super cute, but there's really not much going on. sorry after 5 minutes, my eyes would glaze over ( homer simpson drool face as a I zone out)

but having been stung and seen their carcasses on a beach after a storm, yeah they can stay in their ocean/lake/river whatever.

oh and technically not a fish *eye roll* the aquarium tv ppl were very snooty about that fact. lol

I came across the Jellyfish Art booth at Reefapalooza NY last year and was really taken by the fact that their all inclusive kits are well made and surprisingly affordable - which here means under $500. I can't remember exactly what the pricing was, but I think it was $350 ish for the setup.

We have jellyfish in australia that do not Sting at all you can handle them i don't know if you can keep them as a pet but at camp we were picking them up and holding them in our hands and it's known that you can pick them up and then we have at the opposite end of the scale the box jellyfish that will pretty much kill you instantly almost
