so I purchased java fern from Petco in an impulse buy. Not in great shape and I definitely played with them too much getting them set right. So all the leaves look like they want to die over some more time, but are making babies all over them. I plan to leave the babies on until they fall off and get to a nice size. Will they end up with a healthy size rhizome? Because if the mothers continue to decline after this pregnancy the bigger rhizomes they have will be without any leaves and I don’t see any new leaves coming off the old rhizomes. I’d leave them in and hope for the best

I guess my question is do the babies turn into mothers? Or for the most part you propagate of the old bigger rhizome even without any leaves

Thanks. Hope that made sense

Is the Java fern planted in the pot? or just sitting in it?

The baby Java ferns can grow into full size plants, but this takes a really long time as they are such slow growers.

Without leaves, the Java fern won't propagate.

The java is just sitting in the pot with rubber bands on broken pot pieces.

It’s a pot themed aquaria

Seems like just letting nature takes it course is best.

But the babies get their own rhizome and eventually becomes mommas themselves?
