Good morning in hoping someone can help. I've never had luck with plants but decided to take the plunge again n have had my java fern and bacopa for almost a week which is good for me. I have two tanks both with java fern and the bacopa has only survived so far in one. I need some help as my java fern is now turning brown in Malcolm's tank here's a picture

I really love the way his tank looks and so does Malcolm so I don't want to lose my plants but I don't know what to do in order to stop it all turning brown. Will it all turn brown do I need to trim the brown leaves off will they grow back? I'm at a loss any advice greatfully received thank you in advance

How much light do you have? Do you dose anything? how many fish do you have? Java fern doesn't pull from substrate they pull from water and prefer free roots it looks planted I would see if it does better tied to the surface of a rock or something.

Hello thank you for your responses the java fern isn't planted the roots a lying on top of the gravel at the back. The tank is a fluval chI with standard LEDs and has one fish Malcolm my betta. I use feropol 24 made by jhl every other day or so and have interpet flora boost that I've not used on these yet. The lights are turned on at 8am on the dot and turned off anytime after 10pm whenever Malcolm falls asleep. Thank you

Hello thought I would update on my java ferns and bacopa in Malcolm's tank and as always they have all turned brown and the bacopa seems to have melted to brown gooish leaves so have taken these out and I don't think Malcolm liked the brown java fern as it was resting on top of the gravel and mal decided to attack it I tried putting it back and he attacked it again so I have given up and pulled that out too so now he has got two silk plants ( I always have a back up ) so he has got a hiding place or two and he seems happy enough. I have officially give up on plants in Malcolm's tank but don't want to speak too soon but they still seem to be doing ok in my fluval edge some leaves have gone brown but I am fertilising them every other day as I haven't got a fish in there at the moment
