Java Fern won't propagate

So I've had this java fern for over a year now and it's never put out those little baby plants to make more java ferns. It basically produces a leaf at the same time as one of it's older leaves dies away, a constant maintenance cycle to keep the plant looking great and the same size. It has had 5-6 leaves at all times, bright green and beautiful. But no mini plants. Is there anything I should be doing to make it make more plants?

If you could give us more info...

Lighting?
Tank size?
What do you supplement your water with for plant growth and health?

The plant was in a 10 gal for a while, then a 20 and now a 2.5 gal, so the lighting has been variable over it’s time with me. In the 10 and 20 the lighting was much dimmer than it is now in the 2.5 gal, which has a strong LED on for 10 hours a day on a timer. I’ve always used Thrive C

Next time you lose a leaf keep it floating in some aquarium water. Could take a while but it may sprout a plantlet.

Hm, well the leaves don’t just fall off. They slowly break down while still attached to the plant’s rhizome. I don’t remove them
