Java Fern rhizome covered

I have a Java Fern that the rhizome is wrapped up in material that new plants come with, should it be taken off and glued to rock? It is just place in hole not glued or tied. I attached a pic, hope it helps.

Yep, remove all of that so you just end up with the rhizome and roots. Then you can attach it to wood or rocks using glue or fishing wire etc.

I don't keep any rockwool in my tanks. I find a lot of hitchhikers there. Best to keep the rhizome free of any covering, but you can glue or tie it to the spot you like.

I removed the rockwool and was able to keep them in the hole in the rock with just tension.I'll see how that works

The wool should be removed because the high nutrient content will cause algae. You can glue / tie / wedge the rhizome as long as it has exposure.
