Java fern how is it supposed to be planted

java fern is usually tied to driftwood, or an ornament or a suction cup . The roots eventually latch onto whatever they are tied to. make sure the crown of the plant is above the gravel as otherwise it will rot. I just would keep an eye on it for signs of a problem, yellowing dying leaves. Alison

U can plant java fern roots and roots only into gravel, just make sure the rhizomes (the green part that grows horizontal where the plant grows upwards and the roots grow downwards) are above gravel. The water sprite can be buried normally. As alison mentioned watch for yellowing or abnormalities

Yes water sprite grows well left floating.

When water sprite is planted it grows up, when grown as a floater it spreads across the surface horizontally . Also being a true fern it puts out baby plants on the leaves or pieces of leaves and will start lots of nice babies for you. Water sprite is one of my favorites. Alison

 

I've planted two In my fluval and left three floating in my half moon. Can't wait to see how they grow
