Jack dempsey in a 39 gallon?

Hey, I have a large female jack dempsey which is currently crammed into a 20 gallon by itself. My pet store is closing on Monday, so everything is half off. I think their original price for a 39 gallon is 39 dollars, but cut that in half that is $18. Is it worth buying? Also, I can't think of anything else to buy from the pet store. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

 

She'll need a much larger tank. Can you buy a 55 or 75 gal?

 

Jack Dempsey require 50 gallons minimum for 1. Put the Jack Dempsey in the 55, and do your community setup in the 39.

If you have the money, you may want to grab a backup heater or two and maybe a medium sponge filter and pump to use to seed new tanks. You're planning on getting a 55, and now it sounds like you're considering another new tank.

 

I kept a female Jack Dempsey in a 40 gallon breeder tank for a while. Yours will outgrow it unless you plan on 2-3 water changes a week. Take it from someone who tried it first hand

Going from your previous threads, you really may want to rehome her.

 

People say min 55g, but I like To say min 75 gallon the depth gives them more room to swim and grown instead of 12in tank.

Even with 2-3 water changes, she'll outgrow it. 36" isn't a long enough tank for an 8" fish.
