Ive got some Q's about sponge filters

I'm currently setting up a 45 gallon shell dweller tank and recently bought a sponge filter for the tank. I want to add the sponge filter to a different established tank, which is 15 gallons. The sponge filter box says it's up to 60 gallons. Since I already have a filter in my 15 gallon tank, I've been wondering if I would be over filtering it too much.
Any thoughts? Thanks

Lots of shrimp

 

You should be fine then. My black rose shrimp (neocardina) love the current. Other species may not like it that much, but if you have plenty of decorations, you should be fine.

 

I have red cherry shrimp to be exact. Heres a pic. Will they be fine?

The shrimp will defiantly be fine.
Black rose shrimp are just black cherry shrimp.
I would be a little worried about the plants, though. One or two leaves might get caught in the filter (depending on filter placement), but if those plants are sturdy, they will be fine. Even if they do look little weak, I would still try it.

Ok. Thanks for helping me. I know that the plants have seen better days. But they seem to be fine
