Hey y’all! My name is Lisa! I look up information on here all the time and today I finally decided to take the plunge and join the forum myself. I noticed some buying and selling posts and I thought, well dang! I need to buy more stuff! (I don’t!!! I really don’t need to buy more stuff! Although having a better place to buy plants is awesome!! My husband is going to hate this ) but it just so happens that I also currently have 40 Guppy fry, 3 Platy fry and 92 Molly fry! yes, 92! One of my mollies decided to explode into a hundred tiny fish the other day. I also have another Molly that shouldn’t be too far behind her on the pop and a Mickey Mouse Platy that should also pop any day now. So basically what I’m saying is I’m about overrun by fry. My female betta Sunflower is also ready to breed and I think Captain America, our male betta, would be more than happy to give it a go! Lol!! Luckily I will be making an indoor pond for the betta babies to grow in once they’re born. What an adventure, huh?? Would you believe me if I told you I got into the fish keeping hobby just at the beginning of the summer of 2021?? I started with 5 fish in a 5 gallon. Then moved them to a 10 gallon after a couple of weeks, then a couple of weeks after that when we had the money we upgraded their tank again, to a 55. I’ve slowly filled the 55 with mostly Guppies, a couple of Mollies, a couple of Platies, a couple of Swordtails, then a school of regular and gold white cloud minnows. My livebearers popped out one or two babies here and there, the most we had from one mom prior to these numbers recently was 7. Then all of a sudden one morning we woke up to a tank full of Guppy fry! So I got online and ordered some baby tanks. Then we woke up to a ton of Molly fry. now I’m just waiting for the day that we wake up to more babies because I know it’s coming soon! We have a third baby tank empty and just waiting for them to be born! One of my best friends also made me fall in love with Koi Bettas. So I have a female Koi Betta in my 55 community tank. I also have way too many ramshorn snails, which I use to love and now I am regretting ever getting. So I also have 6 assassin snails. I also have a tiny little tank with 3 clutches of mystery snail eggs that we’re waiting to hatch so we can see who laid them. We have Purple, Magenta, Jade, Blue and Ivory mystery snails with a decent mix of males and females. Then I have a 20long tank which holds my male Koi Betta, Captain America, he is the betta pictured in my profile picture, our 11 White Cloud Mountain minnows, all of our living mystery snails, some ghost shrimp, blue velvet shrimp and a couple of brown shrimp. We also have quite a few baby shrimp as well as a couple of very “pregnant” blue shrimp that are carrying a ton of eggs! Then I have a 5 gallon ramshorn snail tank for whenever my Pea Puffers finally come in that I have on order and I have a 2.5 gallon that I hatch baby brine shrimp in to feed the babies as well as to condition the bettas with and to feed to the other adult fish occasionally. I decapsulate all of my brine shrimp eggs before hatching them so that I can feed all of the hatched and unhatched eggs to my fish after a couple of days. They love the eggs and I love that I can use every part of the brine shrimp eggs and have a zero waste tank. I’m also a physically disabled wife and mother to three little girls ages 8, 6 and 4, I have 2 service dogs and 2 cats. They all, kids and animals, love to watch the fish tanks as much as I do! My husband doesn’t care quite as much, he just likes that they make me happy. I am the type of person that researches everything and reads everything possible about something well before I decide to do it so I started hatching and keeping brine shrimp and raising them a couple of months before I got my first fish. I knew if I could keep tiny crustaceans alive I could keep fish alive. Now that I have rambled on about myself for an hour and probably no one has made it this far I’m just going to wrap this all up by saying, I’m so happy to be here, I’m so happy I took this plunge! I’m super excited to see what the future has in store for more fish adventures and I look forward to getting to know some of y’all! If you ever have questions for me, feel free to ask! I am an open book!! Thanks for having me here and to end this I will add some pictures of some of my favorite fish!
