It's Like One Of Those Joke Threads

So I'm a member of a church and about a month ago they got a fish tank, it looked to be about 7 gallons, it was more square than rectangular so it was hard to guess. I'm going to be nice though and say 10 gallons though I think that's a huge stretch. They put a betta in there. It was filter, heated and nice decorated with colorful decorations for the kids to all look at with a pretty red betta.

2 weeks ago I look, where's Flash? Oh no! He must be dead! I look and see a single male guppy with a dwarf gourami. The guppy is swimming as guppies do and the gourami is hiding because churches are noisy and busy when service is let out. I asked about Flash, he's been taken out and is now in a tall vase behind the desk, unheated, unfiltered.

Last week I look and now there is the dwarf gourami (still hiding), a guppy, 1 Cory and what appears to be a 2" long common pleco. Flash is still in the vase, probably thankful that he's not in the ammonia mess on the counter.

I've inquired about the tank before but the people I've asked have said that they're volunteers and don't have anything to do with the tank and don't even know who does!

It's like one of those jokes we make, "Oh, I got a 10 gallon tank, can I put a common pleco (and a gourami, guppy and cory in there?)." Don't ever assume that people are joking when they ask the question because they might not know.

It sounds like when we suggest adding a crocodile to fix the stocking.

Doesn't it! I seriously couldn't have thought of a worse stocking/tank unless they were to put goldfish in there. Their one saving grace is the tank is the kind that comes with the filter although, now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not sure if it's heated and I'm thinking it probably isn't and never was. I saw the filter and assume that people get heaters to go with the filters.

No heaters don't come with heaters. somtimes tank kits come with both I guess.

Soo, if your concerned about the fish, you could put a note on the tank with your e-mail adress. or text number.
Or, I know this is wrong , but so is animal abuse, you could take it home with you.

Did you hear about the alligator found loose in a river outside of Chicago? Talk about sounding like a joke, but no, it seems every year an alligator is found in Chicago and the surrounding area.
