It looks like my male betta scraped the top of his head.

I have a male betta currently in a 3gal tank with a filter and heater. I've had him for nearly 3mo now but he's been in this tank for the last 3wks. I also have 4 ghost shrimp and 3 snails in the tank. He only "boops" the shrimp when they attempt to lay on his leaf. Otherwise everyone gets along great.

Anyway, I went out for a few hours today. When I left he was fine and looked completely normal and beautiful. When I came home I noticed that the top of his head looks like he scraped it on something. I don't see any holes or lesions; it's just slightly red in the middle and light pink on the edges. His activity level hasn't changed at all, although, he seems a bit more agitated at times.

Any ideas what it is or what could have caused it? Is it something I should address asap or simply keep an eye on?

Please help me. I adore my Panda and don't want him to be sick or in pain if I can help him. (Yes, that's his name. When I first brought him home he would see his reflection in the side of the tank poof his gills and "attack" the other betta and he reminded me of Po from the movie "Kung Fu Panda". lol He hasn't done that for quite some time though.)

Thank you in advance,
Twisted Kitten
A few of the pictures are a little blurry but given his activity level, they were the best I could get.

I’m not a betta expert but one of your fake plants could be a little pointy and caused him to scratch himself or me may be sick I would definitely talk to your local pet store

I woke up this morning and his behavior is back to normal. He's no longer acting agitated. I took a few more pictures because he was playing along this morning.

Thanks again.

Keeping up on your WC's will be the best medicine for him. Very nice looking betta. Do you have a full tank pic?

I agree fresh eater changes and a little aquarium salt should fix him up.
