Is this Velvet???

My daughter's fish is sick...I have really tried to educate myself being that I'm new. Water parameters are good at this time.

I now use Prime. He is getting fed every other day a pellet and the occasional dried blood worm.
I think he actually had a little bit of gold-ish color on his face when we got him but suddenly it was all over his cheeks, chin, and a tiny bit on to the front under-fins. But I haven't found ONE picture of Velvet online that looks like this!
Ive kept him covered without light for weeks and treated with Copper-aid(not too generously because it made me nervous!) and aquarium salt. Any thoughts???

 

I'd keep a close eye on him. It may just be coloration ((I was confused because my betta has a gold green sheen on some parts of him and black gills, but he isn't actually sick))

 

Thank you. He's definitely got something going on. He's a little swollen, swimming a little crooked, and breathing heavy, but no clamped fins and still has a big appetite! Frustrating! We haven't had great luck as new betta owners and I really don't want this one to go!

 

Have you considered swim bladder disorder? It explain the color but it might be the cause of the bloating and strange swimming.

 

Yes. He does seem to have that issue quite easily but I've done peas and fasting. That definitely goes up and down! Poor guy. :/
And I thought maybe some sort of bacterial infection or internal parasites...tried Kanaplex.
