55 Gallon Tank Is This The Beginning Of Fungus?

Ok. No change is good at this point. If you do notice a downturn you can't wait any more. Either treat the whole tank or give him that bath. Good luck I hope he recovers.

Your welcome. Keep us posted. I'm getting a parrot for my big tank. There such cool fish.

Oh! I thought you said parrot as in the bird, until I continued reading the last sentence of your post. I was thinking you were actually saying that you were adding a parrot to your aquarium and then I reread the first part of your post ( before I read the end of the post) to make sure I didn't miss something, then I read the last part and now I know it is the cichlid and not the bird.

and all that detritus and ammonia would be disgusting, it would build up a lot of white clumps in the tank!

Hey guys! I left for two days, and I'm less and less sure that the white is actually an issue. I'm still going to do salt baths, but it's barely changed and if anything gotten better. He is also a lot more active today and they don't seem to be fighting anymore, but I'm still going to try to get them another tank.

Sorry this is off topic, but do nerite snails eat blue-green algae? I'm considering getting one since my algae is growing uncontrollably and I injured my hand so I can't really reach in as easily to clean it, and if so I definitely have enough of it to last a while.

Excessive algae is an indication of an off balance tank. Almost always its due to too much lighting. What's your light schedule like?

I almost never turn the light on, except for water changes and pictures which is probably 45 minutes. I'm pretty sure it's actually cyanobacteria though and it's pretty well established.

If that's the case nirite snails won't help.

Oh, ok. Well, now that the possible fungus issue seems to be resolving pretty well, thanks for all your help!
