Is This Still Ich On My Weather Loaches?

Here's my origional thread ... Please Help Weather Loach With Ich

Don't mean to double post but I have a 10 hour shift tomorrow and I'm panicking,

Hello, here's a fast update, I went to my lps where I got the oto, they did say yes it was ich. I've seen ich on a betta but that was yrs ago, so now I'm second guessing myself. Today I woke to find one of my dojos had completely lost a front fin, shortly after he passed. Now another one of my dojos front fin is turning white, the other has 1 barb that is white. The guppies, platies, nothing just spots like norm ich looking. Is this norm for ich on dojos?

These are the best pics I could get, I thought fin rot, but they have spots and I saw the oto's original tank and those fish just have the white spots, just like ich. Oh and I haven't seen any fin nipping, I've pretty much been staring at the tank ALL day. But I might have missed something. idk I'm grasping at straws.

Oh and yes they had that tank shut down ;-) at least that is good

If it is, looks like it's the last of it... Maybe treat for an extra few days to be sure

I hope so, he lost his barb today, and his fin looks worse about half white now. No meds just heat 86 degrees, scaleless fish, that's what I was recommended. Thank you for your reply.

You might have lost your barb because of the heat... I was told no more than 78° for barbs

When you see no more spots, treat for another 2-3 days

Will that make them lose their fins as well?

should I lower the tank temp or keep it at 86?

I don't really know your type of fish and I'm pretty new to Barb's. But I know that if your tank isn't in the right parameters it can cause immune issues which would make it hard for your fish to fend off any illnesses. If your parameters for your fish are no higher than a certain temperature then obviously you want to stay below that temperature

Are you doing gravel vacs daily? That's the only way to get rid of ich that is dormant in the gravel.

I was told to wait until the ich passed, to reduce stress, I even skipped my wkly water change.

Their spots are gone today, but the one dojos' fin still looks really bad. I lowered water temp to 80 over the course of last night, going to drop to 78 degrees tonight and hold there for the next 3 or 4 days. I work a 10 hr shift that's why water temp change is taking me so long.

I truly cannot thank you enough for the replies.

I don't have a test kit yet, just take sample to lps wkly and they test it and they say it's all good and keep doing what I'm doing. I have ph test kit, but a full one I have ordered from amazon and waiting for it to come in the mail. Taking samples to lps don't work in times like this.

I have no idea how but my one dojo with the fin issue is still swimming like normal, but his entire fin is almost gone, it's what little bit is there is white. His body looks good, eating like normal, just no fin. The one that had lost his barb is fine, 1 less barb but 100% again.

Can you get a better picture where it’s not warped? I can’t offer much advise other then clean, clean water. The other thing, dojo’s love to sift through the substance so I’d replace that gravel with sand when you have the opportunity.

I can start doing daily water changes now? Also, gravel vac? I'll start learning about sand tanks asap, are they much harder than gravel, like how dirt tanks are harder to maintain. I'm sorry for the million questions, I've only recently discovered this site, and I have no idea how my fish have stayed alive for as long as they have with my ignorance. Truly thank you so much for the help and advice, this is the best pic I could get. I have no idea how he is swimming like norm. A very little bit lethargic, but eating like normal, going to the top of the tank.

No problems, ask all you want. A bit of physiology, fish don’t use their pectoral fins as their main movement, that’s what their tail is for. Pectoral fins are for steering and balance. I find with longer fish like my dojo’s they act more snake like. If he gets over this, he’ll be fine swimming wise.

I find sand way easier to clean and easier to keep clean then gravel. Waste sits on top and dosen’t sink into the grains like gravel does.

So far it hasn't spread past the fin, but the fin is pretty much gone. Doing my daily water changes, and I'm going to keep the water temp up for a few more days. I cannot thank you enough for the help and advice! I'm going to start buying aquarium sand, and hopefully in the next 3 weeks have enough to change out the gravel. Thank you again.

Pool filter sand or black diamon blasting sand (20/40 grit) are better and MUCH cheaper options.

Oh that's great! I have a pool place not far from where I live, not a fan of Walmart. I've been watching youtube on how to clean it prior to placing it in the tank and how to eventually put it in the tank. Wanting to learn about it before I jump right in. My fish have been through enough atm. Prob best to wait a few weeks any way before doing that big of a project on them?

Side question, I have live plants should I dip them to remove ich? If so what is the best method for that?
