Is This Silicone Grease Safe To Use?

Hey guys, another day, another thread for me. I need a second opinion from you all. Thanks in advance.

In the past, I've always purchased silicone grease/oil through the manufacturers. But spending 2-3 dollars on a small tube of "aquarium safe" silicone grease from Fluval and other manufacturers, then spending 9 dollars on shipping is getting a little tiresome. So, I've looked around locally for food grade silicone grease that's safe for aquarium use.

Here is what I'm looking at purchasing. It says "90% Silicone" and has no additives, or warning labels, and is advertised as non-toxic. The guys at my local Ace store claim many plumbers use it for faucets and sinks (thus nontoxic). In theory, this stuff should be okay for use on O-rings. I apply silicone pretty liberally on my gaskets (especially the Fluvals). Here's the stuff: Ace Silicone Grease 1/2 Fl. Oz. - Ace Hardware & Home Centre, Maldives

I would think it's fine to use, but need someone else to affirm my thoughts. Thanks

EDIT: I should add, it says "no petroleum additives", "non toxic", and "non flammable/waterproof" on the back label.

I don't know about that, its only 90% silicone but to help you get this instead

I used it on my aquarium to hold and piece together rock wall.

Sorry, I should've clarified. I need silicone lubricant, not an adhesive. I'll be using it on gaskets/O-rings. Home Depot has a silicone lubricant but it has petroleum additives.

I've used vasoline for many years without any negative results, even though the people who sell the silicon grease say it's bad and will wreck your o-rings. A big jar is cheap and lasts along time, and so have my O-rings.

Owner at my LFS said the same thing, he was wondering why I'm afraid of using Vaseline. Only reason is because Fluval stated not to use it, but they also sell silicone so... yeah. Who knows. I'll give that a try if I can't get a definitive answer on the Ace silicone grease. It's really cheap at $2 a jar at my local ACe store. And that jar will last months.

I owned a LFS for 26 years and always used vasoline. But I guess if I was selling over priced little tubes of silicon I would think vasoline sucks!

Yeah I'm surprised the amount of silicone you actually get for $2 from Fluval. It's really only good for one use. But this jar from Ace is fairly large and almost the same price as the Vaseline. Might as well try it lol
