Is this normal? Flowerhorn Color changes

This is my boy Fat Head. I got him back in november when he was a few months old, he used to have great coloring and patterns along his side and kok but as he has gotten bigger and older he has turn almost completly pink.
Is this normal for flowerhorns? Ive tried to look online if theres something i can do to have him regain his coloring but i havent really found much helpful info so i was wondering if any of the FH gurus could tell me more about it.

Have you recently changed anything in his tank, like his food, mabey added a new decoration or a change in water quality?

hmmm, how old would you say he is?

 

From what I've been reading, color change means that he's stressed. Is it possible that you may have changed something about his routine?

 

He is just over a yr old now...maybe yhe change from 55 to a 120 tank...thats about the only major change i can think ive done

Yeah, that change may have stressed him out. I would just try to keep him on a normal schedule and hopefully his scales should get back to normal.

Food, background has big effect on colors. Since you changed the tank, I assume that changed background as well. What about substrate?

 

Substrate definitely changed from dark to white...so i guess that also could have contributed to his change
