It's been a long time since I've posted and I hope you all are doing well!! Here's my tank info:

Tank
40 Gal
Set up in October last year.
Penguin 200B HOB
Not sure of the size of the heater as it came with the tank when I bought it
Temp is around 78F
It has 5x Guppy, 6x Black Phantom Tetra, 4x Panda Garra, 2x Otocinclus, and 1 Rainbow Shark

Maintenance
Water is changed weekly, around 20%
Using city tap water with dechlorinator (API I believe)
Substrate is vacuumed as well as water.

*Parameters - Very Important
Tank was cycled using the fast start cycle + fish food
Using the API master test kit for water testing.

Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: ~40
pH: 7.0

Feeding
Fish are fed daily, with a small-ish pinch of food. A mix between fish flakes and bloodworms (I cycle between them). I used to give out algae pellets but I started having an algae bloom in the tank so I've stopped since.

Illness & Symptoms
So the issue is I believe one of my Black Phantom Tetra's to have ick. I just saw it this morning:

This one I haven't had for a long time (about a month). I haven't started any treatment as I wasn't sure what to do at this point. All of my fish ate fine this morning, and no other signs of distress other then the shiny scales.

Let me know what you guys think!! Thanks again!!!!

yes it still looks like ick.
raise his temp to 80-82 and double check that its safe for this tip of tetra but I would put in some aquarium salt.

It sure looks like it. I'm not an expert, but it looks like it. But with those temps, I'm surprised. Raising the temp is often the cure for ich. But if you do that, you'll have bouillabaisse. I defer to the experts. Good luck

I'm going to have to research for a few of my fish to see what they can handle. Going to the store later if I can venture out in the snow to get some ick medicine and API aquarium salt.

My other thing that I've now realized I kicked myself in the foot on is my bio media is the "rite size C" cartridge which has inside of it activated carbon... not good for medicine ...

Sure looks like ick! Raise the temperature to 78-82 (the warmer the better) this has worked for my goldfish and instantly got rid of it in a day or less. Make sure that the temperature is not too much to kill the tetra(s)

What all did you do besides raising temps? From what I've seen 80F seems to be on the high end for some of my fish (the panda garra can be between 72-81F, rainbow shark 75 to 80).... I need to see if aquarium salt is okay for my specific fish but I'm not honestly sure on that. I've heard the salt is the best thing to kill ich!!

edit: I should also note since then I've found 1 other tetra (another female) with spots.. and the worst one is showing more signs of it (like not swimming as much).. since I don't have a air stone, I've added a powerhead to the other side flowing up with the air valve open so it's causing a lot of air bubbles and agitation at the surface to help with air....

Update: Been doing daily small water changes and treating with stuff my local aquarium shop recommended, as well as temp being raised to 80F. It's now almost completely gone, although at the loss of 1 of my female Tetra... the others got very bad, but have since recovered. Going to keep this up for another week to be on the safe side!

So I have to do another update, as things have gotten drastically worse over the weekend...

Still doing daily water changes, but have now upped (as of today, first day doing so) the ich treatment (it's rid-ich btw). But over the weekend I lost all but 1 of my tetra, 1 otocinclus, and now my rainbow shark and 1 of my guppy are showing signs....

At this rate I feel like my entire tank is going to die off
