Is This Hith Please Help????

Is this hith I noticed this on my oscar.

 

I would say yes, there is many causes for HITH including poor water quality and lack of certain nutrients. What is he being fed and what are his water parameters?

When one of my blue zebras had HITH it was due to high nitrates. Upped the water changes and she healed up pretty quick, though the holes were much smaller than your fish's.

 

Could it be a scratch from driftwood. The driftwood in the tank is sharp because it is spiderwood?

 

The water quality is fine and there is a lot of tannins

 

HITH to me.

 

No way it is a scratch, it wouldn't cause a dent like that unless he rammed head first into a pointed end. Tannin is good for healing minor scrapes and torn fins but it probably won't cure HITH.

Can you give numbers for the water quality? Again, what is he being fed?

It’s HITH. Obviously the hole but you can also see the line on his back. That’s the nerve line as it starts to split the skin.

As mentioned poor water quality and bad food is the major reasons. If your cheap on food it’s basically you get what you paid for.

There are medicine to help treat it so if you want to go that route that might help as well.
