I am getting a 20 gallon somehow, I don't care how but I'm getting one and I saw this Aqua clear 20 and thought "20 bucks, what a good price." The guy had used it on his tank for a month until he realized his tank was 30 gallons and now he's selling it for $20. The question is, would an Aqua clear 20 be enough for a 20 gallon tank. I want to avoid pretty much any high bio load fish.

Filtration should be based on stocking, not strictly on volume, so depends on your stocking plans.

One molly and 6 corys will be stocking. The molly is in a 10 gallon right now (I know, yikes ) and a 20 gallon still isn't ideal, but a big upgrade from a 10 gallon.

AC20 is kinda small in my opinion, an AC30 would be better suited.

An AC20 + a sponge filter driven by an air pump would probably be just fine though.

Dont under estimate how well spent ge filters work.

For $15 or less, you can get a Silentstream 30 filter from PetSmart.

For another $5 you can insert a block of foam sponge in the reservoir and put a sponge pre-filter on the intake, and for the same price it would provide more filtration than an AC20.
