Is This Black Furry Stuff Algae?

Hi, I have these black furry stuff growing on pebbles, decorations all the time. I usually change 50% of water weekly, other than vacuuming the bottom, I have to take out part of the pebbles, rubbing them then put them back, very disturbing to my fish. What is this and how to get rid off it?

Yes, appears to be black brush algae. How long are your lights on for?

Thanks. Lights are on from 9am-8pm, and I don't have live plants.

I would cut the lighting period down to 6-8 hours and see if that helps. I like mine to be on from 3 pm to 10pm since that's when I'm home, but any time of day works. If it still persists, you can take all the affected gravel out and soak in hydrogen peroxide for a while, that'll kill it.

Lighting period resulting affects plants much less than algae as they can store nutrients and energy more efficiently. Hydrogen peroxide doses also kills targeted algae with minimal effect to the plants.
