Is This A New Betta Strain?

I purchased the attached betta fish in September of last year. I had never seen a betta with this coloration before. Recently, within the past month, I've started seeing more and more pictures online of bettas with this color. Is this a new coloration? Does anyone know the name for this coloration?

I don't think it's new. I've got a few the same color that I raised. It's white and pink with a bit of blue right? All pastel-ish for the most part. You don't often see them in the petstores though, I think the "in" colors are butterfly patterns, dragon scale, koi and metallic for the most part.

 

I have been seeing a few more colors like these and purples last few months in our local chain pet stores. Daughter bought me one, darkened up to a nice purple within days of arriving in his new home!

 

 

I believe so, I have been seeing more and more purples its interesting though. A couple of years ago I never saw purple bettas
