Is This A Good Buy For A Newbie?

this came up on Craigslist and I messaged them with a few questions but no answer and they changed their ad to “what you see, what you get” so I have my answer. My husband and I are newbies in this hobby but we really wanted to do a planted tank in a 20 gal long. I’ve done lots of reading and I’m at the point were I’m ready to buy.

I don’t have use for the stand (yet) and I would be completely redoing the substrate so I’d be transplanting the plants to different locations. I don’t know what to look for and if this is a bad idea I want to pass. But if it’s a good deal and any possible problems can be relatively easy to fix and the plants will do good being moved around I want to go for it.

Also, how would you transport this setup???

If all you are looking for is the tank and the lid and the light, then you are spending way too much at $70.

You could get it all brand new for less than $70. The tank alone would be just $20 at petco if they have a dollar per gallon sale going.

If you're up for spending $70 if I were you I would buy everything new.

Honestly, it's so much fun starting from scratch. I only have a 10 gallon right now due to being in an apartment right now and will be moving in about half a year, but this little tank has been so much fun decorating and planning out. It can get expensive, but you will get a picture in your head and go for it. Plus, it'll be fun for your and your husband to work on together. But this way you can look into different kinds of equipment. You don't know what they have in there.

Yeah that’s not a good deal. You can get things wayy cheaper if you buy them separately.

light - 30
stand-20
filter - 20-30

That’s exactly what I needed to know! I think I’ll pass then. This person refused to answer any questions anyway.
So glad I joined this forum! It’s helped so much and I don’t even have fish yet!
