Is this a female gourami?

bcsay720

Has my little baby finally colored up enough to sex it? I'm thinking female. Thoughts?

I’m thinking female as well. Since they have a short rounded dorsal fin.

Honey gourami are the hardest to sex. The dorsal fin does not give a good indication of sex on them. It really has to do with coloring and they have to be much larger before you can be absolutely sure. I thought I had one male and 2 female until they colored up for breeding and now they are all 3 male. jinjerJOSH22 is the gourami guru so he will have an educated opinion.

Male honeys always have a lemon yellow dorsal, females have a thin orange border on theirs, even when they’re not fully colored up. It’s as simple as that.

That baby is only 2.5 months. Not sure when males would get their lemon stripes, as I've never raised one from an egg before.
