Is this a black convict?

I went to the fish store the other day and since I was already looking for a convict with some size I bought this one which was in the convict tank. At the moment I thought that it has lost it's color/stripes due to stress so I figured it would regain it's color once I give it a new home but now that I have him in a tank alone it looks to me that it might not be a convict. I've had convicts before that look black with stripes but I'm not sure if this is a convict or it was just throw in that tank by mistake.

    It's a cichlid, but not a convict.

Black belt cichlid. Grows large and most are very aggressive.

Oh Man thanks guys. I will need to re-home this guy asap as looking at some info and it looks like it grows up to 12 inches.

Lol must be a reason it's called a black belt cichlid.
