Is there different kinds of oranda goldfish?

I'm wondering what kinda oranda goldfish this is? The pet store only said "oranda goldfish", or is it just an oranda goldfish? I just havent seen much of them that's this color, maybe they are common but I usually only see, white and orange or black and orange or mostly white.

It's not a ranchu. It is indeed an oranda. Specifically a bronze oranda. Not exactly a show quality example, but a good looking fish still!

You're welcome! Enjoy him, goldfish are one of my absolute favorite fish. We have a few knowledgeable goldfish keepers here and we try to be helpful. Any questions you have, don't be afraid to ask.

I read on this site that silver dollars can be kept between 75°F -82°F
And goldfish can be kept between 40°F- 80°F
The goldfish in my tank is very active and seems happy always swimming around and checking stuff out.

Those are silver dollars the less aggressive version but still in the same family as piranhas

I don’t think so because oranda goldfish need temps of high 60’s to low 70’s and silver dollars are tropical fish that like the temp of 76-80

They arent aggressive at all, they are mostly skiddish, I have some of those glofish tetras in there and they were more aggressive then the silver dollars they used to nip at fins but not anymore and I was just going by what this site said, but he seems happy

Goldfish can do just fine in a 78 degree tank. They'll poop more so you need to do more water changes. If you're very heavily stocked oxygen content of the water is the only issue you might run in to. That's easily remedied with an airstone.

Goldfish being cool water obligate is somewhat of a misconception. They CAN survive cold water. They don't NEED it. In reality they're extremely adaptable to the environment, as evidenced by the fact that they can be invasive in pretty much the entire country.

Mine seems to be happy! So I dont think the temperature bugs him and I do regular water changes, sometimes not but pretty much most of the time i do and he seems happy in the tank so I'm not too worried about him I think the tank gets enough oxygen but if I notice it isnt I do have a airstone i can put in there

This isn't directed at anything said here in specific, but you'll come to hear a lot of people's opinions on the "right way" to keep goldfish. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I'm very much of the thought that there is no "right way". I've done things that "don't work" more than once myself, and even years into keeping goldfish I still see new methods from other folks quite regularly.

The number one rule to follow is: Do what works for you. Don't go fixing "problems" where none exist.

Thank you! I do appreciate peoples opinions and stuff they tell me and I will take them into consideration but theres nothing wrong at the moment so I'm not gonna go messing with it and screw it up and make a problem when there isnt one
