Is there a floating plant that can survive without lighting

I’ve been researching floating plants as I wanted to have an area in the back of my tank that has the long roots coming downwards. However my tank Blackwater inspired therefore water is tanned and I don’t want too much light in the tank.

Is there a floating plant that could get long roots with limited/no light?

amazon frogbit and water lettuce
no light....would not be possible though
perhaps a tip: add the floaters with long roots in the back and floaters with short roots (e.g. salvinia minima) in the front, and increase the light somewhat

I should have mentioned in the opening post that the tank has a black lid on it which cannot be removed. I rarely have the light that is built into the lid on as I really enjoy the darker water of the tank. Would the amazon Frogbit and water lettuce be able to survive in the conditions?

These would be the only plants in the tank therefore I would also be planning on no supplements to help the plants.

All plants and most animals need light. Photosynthesis cannot occur without light, so plants will die. There are a few fish like blind cave fish that live in dark caves with little or no light, but most fish need a normal light cycle to regulate their periods of activity and rest.

What do you mean by the statement that your tank has a black lid on it that cannot be removed? If the lid CANNOT be removed, how do you do water changes, feed the fish and vacuum the substrate.

If you want to maintain a blackwater environment, the water is dark in color due to tannins in the water. However, the tank still needs light. Floating plants grow at the water surface because they want a high level of sunlight. Some rooted plants like Amazon Sword plants grow underwater where the lighting conditions are much dimmer. If you are trying to maintain a tank with no artificial lighting, you might try something like that.

I have never kept a blackwater aquarium, so I cannot offer detailed advise.
However, there are experts on the forum that can provide that advice.

I should have been clearer regarding the lid. The tank is accessible but the lid is not removable. Therefore the plant would not have any light coming in as the top is covered and I don’t use the inbuilt light. The fish get their light from natural light and room light. This is a similar tank:

Interpet - Insight LED Aquarium - 64L

I think I will leave floating plants then as I do not want to use the tank lighting.
