I made a post about a puffer with ich just three days ago. I turned the temp to 82, its been three days and no medicine... But no white spots!! Can she be cured already ?! Can a fish have ich but no spots ?!
Ich has a life cycle. It hatches, finds a fish, lives on it (this is when you can see the spots), falls off, and starts the cycle again. That's a simplified version, but yes, there is usually a period where the fish will not have any ich on them, but the tank still has ich. So it'll be back in a few days to a week.
Plus, a temp of 82 is nowhere near warm enough to kill ich. I think ich starts to struggle more like 86-90.
Why aren't you using meds? You don't have inverts (or you shouldn't, since they'll be puffer food), so there really isn't a reason not to use copper meds.
Yay!Ich is very easy to get rid of and it's quick as well surprisingly.
