What do you all think? How like new could it be if tenecor went belly up In 2011
Crossed out location in case the seller wants to be anonymous?

Can still read the location .

As for is it worth it it depends on the price and the condition.

It seems reallly deep to scape and clean. My first impression. I have no idea on price though.

You need to get IN the tank to do those things.

Even my orangutan arms would have trouble with that one

There is no good way to evaluate 'worth it'. I'm not a fan of acrylic tanks to begin with (there are people who hate glass tanks) and it won't have a warranty even if it is like new. If i found the correct dimensions it is only 20 inches deep which isn't too bad. It is quite a bit less than a new 100 gallon acrylic but more expensive than a new 100 gallon glass tank so you have to consider that. Also if you have problem with the tank integrity that stand will be useless for a replacement tank due to the odd dimensions. Or maybe not if you can find something else that fits on it.

So for me personally i would avoid it simply because it is acrylic but if your heart is set on acrylic and you don't mind the lack of warranty and if the condition is really like new it is cheaper than alternatives.

If I’m right, I believe it’s a SeaClear. If so, then it’s a really good deal.

Sorry I feel like the pics didn’t come through clearly. It’s 100 gallon tenecor aquarium, $$495. I WISH it was SeaClear so I knew more about it (as I already do have one seaclear).

Do you know if the tank is currently filled/being used? If not, how long has it been stored?

It’s currently exactly like the pics he sent today. I haven’t gotten into a ton of details with him, only Bc I wanted to ask here Bc apparently tenecor went out of business in 2011? So it might be a totally BAD CALL and something I don’t want to delve into. I am going to change the title of the post in case anybody recognizes the brand. Thank you!

I MUCH prefer acrylic, though am VERY wary of used acrylic tanks, considering I’m scared to even move my tank EVER Bc I’m scared it will scratch (and I’m also scared to even change the substrate). So buying a used old one is very risky.

I would want to see it filled. Tenecor cut corners and used too thin material on some tanks which caused crazing and excessive bowing.

Tenecor was basically a leader in the acrylic industry for years producing affordable acrylic tanks. After becoming an industry leader, they moved to a larger warehouse and fell behind in tank production. As they were rushing to complete orders, they started letting sloppy work slip through. It all depends on the tank. I would check to see when the tank was manufactured. If it was produced later, I would avoid it.

And there you have the typical consensus of opinion that so often happens in fish keeping. Or not.

Not much here, but one more reference point.
Tenecor aquarium

Also, it looks like Tenecor has a Facebook page? Sorry, I can’t access it as I don’t do FB.

Great point, I’ll ask when he got it and if he knows when it was made (seems like a stretch as I don’t know when my one year old acrylic was actually made lol). But THANK YOU! At least I know that at one time, great tanks were produced, so it might be a good thing with a lot more research done.
