Is "river rock" a good idea for my tank with African Cichlids?

I'm thinking about putting some rocks I got from the river in my tank to give my African Cichlids someplace to hide....Ive heard it will raise the Ph...but wouldnt that be good for them seeing as they like a higher Ph?

That would probably be fine. Be careful if you stack them. They could fall on your fish. I'd also boil them before putting them in the tank.

If you decide to stack them you can hold them together with aquarium safe silicon. That's what I did with my 55G

At Lake Milford in Kansas, near Milford. They aren't from here, but were transported in to the river...All the rock you can carry is free!
