Hello I bought this new nice looking bristlenose pleco on sunday and its his 3rd day in the tank and hes hiding a lot which is normal but I don't kbow if hes eating or not when I throw food in like pellets, blood worms and cucumber and zucchinI and sometimes a occasionally a algae wafer he just sits there hiding rather behind the filter or in the driftwood under the leaves so does he look alright its hard to get a good picture of him because he runs at first sight of me

Pleco tend to be shy and largely nocturnal. You may not see much of it. If you put its vegetables in the same place it's easier to monitor how well they are being eaten.

Lol kimberlyG
Yeah hes a big boy ready to scare other small shrimp away but yeah he is hiding a lot however at night time I see him move around which is strange because the other 2 bristlenose plecos ive had were smaller and more excited and moved all over the place this one hides alot

What is his head stuck in in photos 1 and 2 that makes him look like he is wearing a hat?
Other than that, he looks good. Two of my super reds dash away if they see me approach the tank. They do come out if I sit there watching for 10 to 15 minutes.

Keep an eye on his vent, it shouldn't be that large (it can indicate a prolapse is happening or about to happen). Otherwise he looks fine.

The only reason I had a feeling that was happen is I have had that happen to one of my super reds, even with the 100+ bristlenose I have had I have only had one case of prolapse with them.
It is a prolapse, sometimes it takes a longer time to kill, sometimes they recover from it. If he had a prolaspe when you purchased him yes he was ill when you got him.
