Is my platy pregnant?

    I went on vacation for a couple of weeks. My mom took care of my fish tank while I was gone.. And she did a great job!
    When I returned my orange platy was fat and doesn't swim much. It keeps hiding out in one of the plants.

    If you go on desktop, there is a little button on the reply box to "Insert Image".

    that's what i'm thinking too.
    i've never had a pregnant fish. what should i do to prepare?

    I'm sorry to tell you, but the first picture in post #7 shows a fish with dropsy, you can see the scales standing out. The fish is not pregnant, she is very ill.

    I disagree, it doesn't look like the scales are sticking out to me. That's just how the light is hitting it imo.

    If you look along the outline of the fish, you can see the scales sticking out from the body. It is early stage, but the fish is most assuredly ill.

    unfortunetly i do believe you were right. when i checked my tank last night, my fish had passed away
