Is my Java Fern melting/dying?

Revan

So I got this Java Fern sometime in June, and it did decent (bit of algae on leaves, plant was still green and healthy), but now leaves are browning and dying off, and there's a new type of algae that I haven't seen before. I cut down on ferts a while back to reduce algae, but I think I did it a bit too much. I use Thrive btw. Any ideas?

P.S. My anubias is really healthy, which is weird.

It seems to have new healthy growth on the bottom. As long as the new growth is healthy then you can prune the dead or dying and the plant will thrive in no time.(well Java ferns are a little slow growing but you get the idea.) If there are problems with new growth then you need to look for possible disease or issue with the plant.
