Is my gold lyre molly pregnant?

Hello all, I have had a Gold lyre molly in my tank for about three weeks now, is also the time the tank has run, now when it came from the pet store it was big and getting along fine with everyone, two days ago we discover that we had fry so we safe what we could cause I didn't know who was pregnant, but now I find myself that this gold molly, has gotten fatter, agressive, and pooping a lot, am wondering if she is a female and if she is pregnant, or maybe she is sick, water levels are fine, water is clear, when I clear ammonia which is once a week I take some water out replace it with new water and dissolve the ammonia in it!.


Any suggestions?

 

It sounds like shes pregnant, if she has more fry find some sort of cover for them to hide so they don't get eaten. She might just be fat too, only time will tell.

 

I separate it on put her on the breeding net for a day!, the next day y let it go back, she seems lets aggresive, but still fat!. I guess will have to wait and see

 

sounds like she may be prego! get some cover and find some way of keeping the fry separate from the other tank inhabitants.

 

Once a female has been mated with she can give multiple fry droppings. They can hold the sperm for months and only fertilize a few eggs at a time. This allows them to mate only once but then give multiple births. Females Mollies can give birth to as few as one fry and up to as many as 80 or so but large droppings is less common. My females normally give birth to 15 to 30 fry every 60 days or so. That don’t seem like much but when you have 30 females it can add up to a lot of fry in a very short period.
