Is my driftwood ready for my tank?

I bought an awesome piece of driftwood and have been soaking it because its too big to boil. Its been soaking for 3 days, yes I know its only 3 days not 2 weeks, but the water is still crystal clear. Can I put it in or wait longer?

I would put it in. I only left my wood to soak for about 3 days as well. Even if you get some tannins in your tank, water changes will eventually remove them. You could also put in some activated carbon or Purigen in your filter to help.

I have carbon in both my ACs and my canister. Does that help remove tannins? Are tannins at all harmful to fish?

Yes, carbon will help remove discoloration in the water. Nope, tannins are not harmful to fish at all.

Where would you suggest putting it? I can move some rocks around to make it fit. The door behind the wood is 16 inches wide to give you an idea of how wide the wood is.

That is a very cool looking piece of wood! It would look nice in the middle of the tank or you can put it on either side of the tank and get another piece of wood for the other side. Then put the rocks in the middle.

I'm not very good at aquascaping so I'm sure others will have better ideas. lol
