Hiya!

new live plant owner here— got this anubias from petsmart two weeks ago, accidentally buried it in substrate for a week but now it’s tied to a rock. Noticing some yellowing on the leaves and brown spots on others. rhizome looks brown too and growing up tp the leaves. No idea what’s wrong.
5 gal tank with a betta and a mystery snail that loves to crawl all over it. Sometimes weighs leaves down.
Also have a crypt I got a few weeks back for comparison. What’s going on?

Some melting back is pretty common when introducing a plant to a new environment. It will probably be okay, and showing new growth before long.

Hi
Roots looks healthy so shut be ok just give little more time becouse anubias is a slow grow plant. Planting anubias in the substrat was not good idea but we learn from own mistake. Do you use any kind of fertilizer?

So I gave it a few weeks..... rip. I see this tiny little green sprout from the back plant whos roots are still white. Not sure if I should just have a funeral now. At least my mystery snail is having a good buffet

It looks dead. Is the rhizome squishy? If it's firm, there may still be hope.

Rhizome crumbled in my hands. I’m devastated! I don’t know what I did wrong

You may not have done anything wrong. There are too many possibilities to nail down. Perhaps try again with one of the more common anubias like Anubias nana.

Try try again. Coin leaf does good in my tank without any fert.
