Hey, I was just wondering if bottom feeders produce a lot of waste? I have 3 tanks and in the tank where my bottom feeders are (5 peppered cory) the tank seems to have a lot of waste. I have tetra in there as well but it is no more stocked or filtered than my other tanks without bottom feeders. I read some where that plecos produce a lot of waste I am assuming these guys do as well. When I got them they were little things and now they are pretty massive, at least my females are. I thought they were a good clean up crew but my other tank bottoms are actually cleaner. Thoughts? Thanks

Corys are magic fish & never poop, well maybe once a year as I’ve only ever seen them do it once!
What else is in your tank? usually any detritus is kept moving by the corys so the filter can deal with it & a lot is also buried as they sift the sand.

10 skirt tetra, they are in a 29 gallon with an Eheim 2217 canister filter

Snails should do a good job of cleaning up some detritus

I don't know why that tank has a lot of waste, but I don't think it's the corys causing it. Is it possible this tank doesn't really have more, but they're stirring it up so you see it more?

The biggest poop machines are the larger Plecos & Synodontis species. IMO, Cory Cats & Loaches are "poop nuetral". Lol.
